Flutist Emma Hospelhorn, oboist Andrew Nogal, and clarinetist Katie Schopeflin perform a wide-ranging set of works that reflect the full range of woodwind virtuosity.

Each instrument is set off by a single solo work: Toshio Hosokawa's arresting and evocative Vertical Song I for flute, Pierce Gradone's relentlessly mesmerizing Automaton for bass clarinet, and the North American premiere of Anthony Cheung's Après une lecture for oboe. These instruments meld into three ensemble pieces - Carola Bauckholt’s whispery Zopf, Joël-François Durand’s subtle and harmonically kaleidoscopic In The Mirror Land, and Alex Temple's play-on-pop-music Thick Line - that embody utterly different musical and instrumental aesthetics.
